
1. Check out the body line, it has to be straight and the reflections should be perfect. Use this method to check overall car body conditions. If the car is dirty, ask the owner to clean it first. You won't get anything from a dirty car.
2. If the reflections from the rear end is not straight, it means the car have been damaged and repaired.
3. Check the gap between fenders, doors, trunk and engine hood. The gap should be similar. If the gap is not balanced between the upper and lower side, it means that this car has been damaged. Extra attention should be applied on gaps between fenders and engine hood, and also between front doors and fenders, since this area is the most likely to have impact after a collision.
4. Look for the border between new and old paint. Check every surface diligently. If the body car painter is an expert, than the border won't be easily noticed. So, be patient and re-check the whole car body once again.
5. Other marks can be found after the car has been gone through an imperfect waxing.
6. Check the rear doors, under the engine hood and trunk. New paint marks can be found behind the door rubber, if you find this marks, try to look on other areas.
7. Basically it is difficult to differentiate between old and new paint jobs. Try to look in detail and from various angles. Because from different angles, you might see the difference. If you see the difference than try to feel it with your finger. If it's smooth than it has never been re-painted.
8. Corrosion. Check for corrosion under the floor mats and trunk. You may check using a magnet. If the magnet does not easily stick to the car body, than the body may have been re-layered and may have been due to damage.
9. Check car body structure. It is one of the important thing in a car. There should be no welding residue, cracks nor trace of damage on car body structure.
10. Check if the car has been trapped in a flood. Chek under the floor mats for severe corrosion, if you found this, then the car might have been trapped in a flood.
11.Last but not least, check the car history, you may find valuable information about the car.
